Emily + Shawn || Tega Cay Golf Club

Let me first start off by saying how wonderful these two are!

Emily & Shawn had their original wedding booked for March 21, 2020. Emily hired SoHo Events to come on towards the end of planning to finalize the logistical side of their wedding (i.e. vendor confirmations, floor plans, timeline creation etc) which worked out great because I was pregnant and my due date was one week after their wedding date! I wasn't going to be able to be onsite for the big day, but I was happy to come in and help tie up any loose ends and hand everything over to their onsite coordinator.

First surprise - baby boy comes a month early (March 1) and I vividly remember texting Emily from the hospital with a "hey my water just broke, so I'm not going to be able to make our site visit this weekend" message. Emily sent the sweetest reply and was cool as a cucumber considering her wedding planner was now out of commission for a few days.

Second surprise - COVID arrives and shuts the world down the week before their wedding. Let the postponing commence!

We went through two postponements, a venue change, new invitations mailed out, vendor coordination emails, timeline changes - basically you name, we did it! However, Emily found the beautiful Tega Cay Golf Club and finalized a new wedding date for October 10, 2020.

My favorite parts of Emily & Shawn's wedding day:

  1. The sweetest mother + daughter first look. There wasn't a dry eye in the room!

  2. The rain falling which made for the coziest most romantic ceremony.

  3. The rain stopping just in time for Emily & Shawn to sneak off for 'sunset' photos.

  4. The best man and maid of honors toasts - full of funny stories, a lifetime of memories and a whole lot of love.

  5. Emily & Shawn sharing a private last dance together before their exit.

They knew they wanted to get married this year, no matter what - so we planned a COVID-safe reception which included face masks, sanitizer on each guest table, color coded wristbands to let people know what sort of interaction they are comfortable with, a socially distanced floor plan and a lot of hand washing.

The rain started early that day and unfortunately caused us to have to move the ceremony location. However, it made for the most romantic backdrop for photos. This ceremony was so laid back and showed how effortless their love is for each other! All guests stood on either side of the verandah to create an aisle and watched as Emily & Shawn shared the sweetest personal vows. When the ceremony ended, the rain stopped (almost like it knew it was time for photos) and we were able to get some gorgeous formal shots on the golf course!

My favorite part of the night was when Shawn & Emily shared a private last dance together. All guests were asked to line up for the exit, the doors were shut, the lights were dimmed and they danced their final dance to "One Man Band" by Old Dominion. This was such a special and private moment between them as husband and wife, one that I'll always remember!

Congratulations Emily & Shawn! We went through a lot together, but in the end your wedding day was a dream come true! It was such an honor to be there and help celebrate your love for each other - I wish you a lifetime of happiness together!
